Der Beginn auf dem Bear Ridge ist ph\u00e4nomenal, bei einer solchen Aussicht zu fr\u00fchst\u00fccken ein Privileg von uns gl\u00fccklichen Hikern. Danach heisst es jedoch in mehreren Kehren auf den eigentlichen Bear Ridge hochzugehen und dann rund 7km zuerst gem\u00e4chlich, dann steil runter zur Br\u00fccke am Mono Creek runter zu steigen. Das Tal, der zugeh\u00f6rige Pass wie auch die \u00fcberquerte Br\u00fccke wurden nach dem Indianerstamm der Mono benannt, die hier mal lebten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery danach auf der gegen\u00fcberliegenden Talseite zum tosenden Wasserfall hoch, wundersch\u00f6n und k\u00fchlend, denn die Sonne brennt unbarmherzig herunter. Auf dem Plateau angekommen geht\u2018s gleich steil weiter hoch, der eigentliche Silver Pass ist ganz zuhinterst im Tal \u201eversteckt\u201c. Schneefeldern und \u00fcberflutetem Trail sehr m\u00fchsam. Als ich unter die Baumgrenze gelange, fange ich \u00fcber ein paar Dinge zu gr\u00fcbeln an, und so geschieht es, dass ich beim Abdrehen in einem Switchback Auge in Auge zu einer ausgewachsenen Hirschkuh stehe. Noch bevor ich irgendwie reagieren kann, macht das unget\u00fcme Tier auf dem Absatz kehrt und spurtet den Trail runter. Ich bleibe einen Augenblick vollkommen baff einfach stehen\u2026 Der weitere Abstieg bis zum Eindrehen in den Fish Creek ist unspektakul\u00e4r aber dennoch sch\u00f6n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kaum unten angekommen heisst es den Fluss queren und direkt wieder gut und gerne 400 H\u00f6henmeter hochsteigen, was aber nach dem erklommenen Sattel folgt, verschl\u00e4gt mir die Sprache. Der Virginia Lake vor der s\u00fcdlich gelegenen Bergkulisse schaut unwirklich aus, quasi wie der Bachalpsee oberhalb Grindelwald vor der Wetterhorn bis Eiger &#8211; Kulisse, einfach mindestens abwechselnd hoch und runter zum Purple Lake, der viel kleiner und in einem Kessel eingebettet ist. Manche Hiker haben sich bereits niedergelassen und sind am Fischen, sicher keine schlechte Idee. Ich ziehe jedoch weiter in Richtung Duck Lake, und ja, es geht unver\u00e4ndert unabl\u00e4ssig hoch und runter. Die Aussicht weiss wieder zu \u00fcberzeugen, der H\u00f6henweg ist echt angenehm zu begehen. Ich komme als erstes bei den Tentsites an, richte mich gleich ein und esse mit einem Tschechen mein Dinner. Bis zum Trailhead in Reds Meadow sind\u2018s noch knapp 20km, der Resupply-Stop in Mammoth Lakes ist in greifbare N\u00e4he ger\u00fcckt! \ud83d\ude0a<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery
