Ich bin gem\u00fctlich gestartet kurz nach sieben Uhr, die Nacht war erstaunlich warm. Max und Charly nehmen es doppelt gem\u00fctlich, und so geniesse ich die Ruhe auf dem einfachen Trail, der den verschiedenen Seen entlang f\u00fchrt und ab und zu entweder ein kleines Waldst\u00fcck oder ein Meadow kreuzt. \u00dcberraschenderweise ist noch niemand unterwegs, so begegne ich allerlei singenden V\u00f6geln, schl\u00e4frig wirkenden Murmeltieren sowie schon fast zutraulichen Rehen. Letztere grasen seelenruhig vor sich hin, viele Feinde scheinen sie nicht zu haben. Am tiefsten Punkt des Vormittags angelangt, mache ich verfr\u00fcht Mittagspause. Dabei schaue ich vergn\u00fcgt den Hiker:innen zu, wie sie teils souver\u00e4n, teils weniger \u00fcber die H\u00e4ngebr\u00fccke \u00fcber den Woods Creek r\u00fcbermarschieren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure Steigung zum Pinchot-Pass. Zuerst folgt der Trail dem ziemlich stark fliessenden Fluss, ein Bad darin bei den ber\u00fchmt-ber\u00fcchtigten Glissade-Stellen scheint mir absolut nicht angebracht, das Badevergn\u00fcgen muss warten. Bei der Abzweigung zum Sawmill Pass lege ich ein Nickerchen ein, eingerahmt von imposanten Bergen; bis auf den kalten Wind ein echtes Highlight, auch den vorbeiziehenden Wolken auskunftsfreudigen Rangern, sie lassen mich ohne Kontrolle weiterziehen. Nach einer gewissen Zeit macht sich die Passh\u00f6he bemerkbar, davor jedoch auch einige pflotschigen Schneefelder, die es m\u00fchselig aber ohne Spikes zu durchqueren gilt. Die letzten Kehren zehren von den Energiereserven. Oben angekommen ist die Stimmung heiter und der Blick ins neue Tal famos. Mit Max und Charly lege ich eine Badepause im noch halb zugefrorenen Lake Margorie ein; so kalt habe ich noch nie gebadet, zum Gl\u00fcck w\u00e4rmt die Sonne und trocknet der Wind uns rasch. Es ist bereit kurz vor sechs und wir haben noch einige Kilometer vor uns bis zum avisierten Zeltplatz. Ich bin superschnell unterwegs, Fotostopps und Flussquerungen fressen jedoch Zeit. Als ich im Camp mein Zelt aufstelle, werde ich von Moskitos &#8211; ja, bis jetzt blieben wir davon verschont &#8211; quasi aufgefressen, es sind soviele, das mit einem Handklatscher auf die Wade ich gleich f\u00fcnf St\u00fcck ins Nirvana schicke. DEET hilft danach weiter, so kann ich in Ruhe essen und die Planung f\u00fcr morgen angehen, da steht der n\u00e4chste Pass auf dem Programm, und zwar der aufgrund vielem Schnee m\u00fchselige Mather-Pass.
