Heute kam es mir eher vor wie Fleissarbeit erledigen. Daf\u00fcr waren die Switchbacks heute in Aktion, es gab quasi 3 f\u00fcr 2\u2026 \ud83d\ude02 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nun denn, gestartet bin ich bei stahlblauem Himmel und aufgehender Sonne, ein kleiner Aufstieg zum Aufw\u00e4rmen, dann geht\u2018s mal 600 H\u00f6henmeter abw\u00e4rts, zuerst locker im Wald, dann steinig und zuletzt mit fiesen Blowdowns durch ein Waldbrandgebiet. Auffallend ist, dass dort wo es mal gebrannt hat, die verschiedenen Beerenstauden sehr gut gedeihen. Dort wo mal eine Br\u00fccke war, mache ich mal Pause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex gegen\u00fcberliegenden Talseite 700 H\u00f6henmeter wieder streng hoch, fast zuoberst beschliesse ich, bei einem kleinen See Mittagspause und Hiker-Laundry zu machen. Nach einer kurzen Traverse f\u00fchrt der Trail &#8211; ihr d\u00fcrft raten &#8211; wiederum 700 H\u00f6henmeter runter, diesmal zum Waptus River, der in den gleichnamigen See m\u00fcndet. Unterwegs muss ich mir noch Wasser besorgen, und da versuche ich mich erstmals als \u201eLeaf Engineer\u201c. class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eine nicht mehr ganz frisch dreinschauende Br\u00fccke quert den breiten Waptus River, dahinter f\u00fchrt der Trail durch ein schon fast subtropisches Waldst\u00fcck, schw\u00fclwarm und viel Efeu, regelm\u00e4ssig ein pl\u00e4tschernder Stream der den Hang runterkommt. Pl\u00f6tzlich kracht und rumpelt es vor mir auf dem Trail und ein zotteliges braunes Etwas prescht ins Dickicht. Zuerst denke ich an einen Hirsch, doch als ich den breiten Hintern und die breit abgesetzten Stummelbeinchen sehe, wird mir klar: Mein erster B\u00e4r auf dem Trail! Nach kurzem Spurt h\u00e4lt er an und schaut neugierig zur\u00fcck zu mir, ist wohl genauso erschrocken wie ich. Scheint ein junger Braunb\u00e4r zu sein, sicher bin ich mir jedoch nicht. Unterwegs begegne ich unz\u00e4hligen B\u00fcschen mit Salmon Berries, welche Himbeeren \u00e4hneln aber im Geschmack etwas fader und farblich lachsrosa sind. Ein Hiker hatte mir vor ein paar Tagen erz\u00e4hlt, dies sei eine sehr verbreitete Spezies in Alaska. Dann entdecke ich noch orangefarbige Brombeeren, doch \u00fcber eine solche Beerensorte habe ich nichts in Erfahrung bringen k\u00f6nnen in den letzten Tagen, darum lasse ich sie links liegen.
